Megan M. Bauer, Esq.
President/CEO/Founder
Ms. Bauer has been a licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Texas since November 2004. She graduated cum laude from the Texas Tech School of Law in 2004 and has been a public servant throughout her career. Ms. Bauer began her career in the Honors Program at the IRS where she was ultimately promoted to Senior Attorney. Then, in 2011, she began working for the Department of Health and Human Services as an Assistant Regional Counsel. Ms. Bauer also is the director of a non-profit, meditation center and has held that position since January 2012.
In June 2013, inspired to contribute to her community through education, Ms. Bauer opened Awake Education with a vision to create a new model of public education that nurtures and develops the whole child.
Kathleen Leos

Ms. Leos is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Global Institute for Language and Literacy Development (GILD) LLC. The company provides highly specialized professional consultant services to education stakeholders on how to fundamentally transform education systems to meet the Academic Achievement goals of students identified as English and Dual Language Learners in Early Childhood, K-12 Postsecondary Education and the Workforce.
Prior to founding GILD, Ms. Leos served a six-year presidential appointment as the US Department of Education’s Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) ESEA, Title III, Assistant Deputy Secretary. From 1995 to 2002, she served as a School Board Trustee for the Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, Texas. During her tenure, she held multiple positions as Board President, Vice-President, and Chair of the Business, Personnel, and Education Committees. Ms. Leos was DISD’s State Legislative Education Liaison (1996-2002) and co-authored the state’s HB 103 or the ELL “No Exemption” Bill which required Texas ELLs included in the State Accountability System for the first time in the in the history of Texas public education.
Margo McCarter
Secretary
Margola M. McCarter will serve as the Secretary of Awake Education. Ms. McCarter has been an employee of Travelers Insurance since 1976. She has been a Director of Finance since 2004 working in the Management Reporting unit. She has been a member of the Dallas Shambhala Meditation Center since 2002 and serves as the Treasurer.
Tonya Savage, Esq.
Member
Ms. Savage is a licensed attorney in good standing with the Lousiana and Texas State Bar Associations. She has been practicing law as an emplyment and labor litigation specialist in the federal sector since 2004, and before that, she practiced as a criminal attorney for the Judge Advocate General's Office of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Morriss serves as the Senior Vice President of FirstCity Financial Corporation in Dallas. He has extensive expertise in acquisitions and underwriting.
